Funny things kids do

Well, I'm finally done with my class, so hopefully they'll be a little more bloggin' goin' on! These are just a few funny pics I've taken lately of the kids and the funny things they do.

The pic above is Logan's version of "Star child" from KISS. For some reason he has a little KISS obsession going on right now.

Logan wrote this poem:

Ellie's butt is purple,

what beautiful butt.

Ellie eats worms,

what beautiful worms.

Ellie has 50 Barbies,

what beautiful Barbies.

It was all written out on a paper in cursive. So funny!! (He's mad that I'm typing this right now)

Yesterday at Wal-Mart we found these Spongebob footie pajamas for $5. I think it's the first time ever that they've had matching clothes!

They each had to do their own pose.
Logan's had a building obsession going on too lately. When he was home sick he built a tent in our bedroom. I should have taken a pic, but didn't. Yesterday he built this in the back yard. I think it's pretty good. He even used pencils as stakes. Pretty ingenious! I didn't help him at all!

I found all these pictures of Ellie's Barbie fashion game on my camera. And even a self-portrait of the culprit!

Skating and a sick boy

On Monday when we were off from school we decided to take the kids roller skating again. They're getting pretty good at it and really enjoy it!

For some reason Logan didn't want me to take his picture staking. He's doing really well though!

And Ellie was skating all by herself for a long time without falling. And fast too!

We left one of her skates at Erica's so she had to wear the skating rinks skates which she said rolled faster? Then poor Logan woke up yesterday with a fever. It's just stayed between 99 and 100, but it seems to be making him feel pretty puny. He keeps wrapping himself up like a burrito on the couch with about 6 blankets.

We're home again today, hopefully he'll be doing better by tomorrow!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I'm sure most of you read on Erica's blog that she and Ray had the crazy idea to take the kid's to Dallas. Well, what she didn't include was that Ellie happened to be at their house at the time. Stu and I had taken Logan to see Avatar at the IMAX. (Awesome, by the way...) So I get a call at about 7:40 on the way home (actually she had called me about 3 or 4 times, but I hadn't heard since my phone was still on vibrate in my purse from the movie) and she says to me, OK I have a crazy idea. When she first said it, I didn't know how to respond. Then quickly we decided that the kids would both have to go with them so they wouldn't miss this once in a lifetime thing. So we had Logan packed and met them at McDonald's by 8:30. Crazy, huh?

I'm really glad they did it though. I do wish I would have been able to go with them, but that would have been much more complicated. Stuart had a haircut appt. the next day and we had promised to bring snacks to Logan's basketball game (that he missed!). So, we got an evening and day to ourselves out of the deal. After Stu got back from getting his hair cut, he got a call from the salon. He had entered a drawing to win a gift basket and won! Woo hoo! So we decided to go to lunch at Pappasitos then go pick it up. Pretty cool, huh? The flowers were the only thing not included. The black thing is a folding carrier for curling irons, etc. There was also shampoo and conditioner, hairspray, a big mug with chocolates, a heart with chocolates, lollipops, a bear, a curling iron and a mini flat iron. Not bad!

This morning we had a Valentine's day breakfast. We also did our annual scavenger hunt for the presents. Basically I leave out a small gift for each along with a note telling them where to go hunt for the next clue. A few clues later, they find more gifts. This year I didn't do the best job with the gifts. It seems like Valentine's has been going on for a week now! My class had their party last Wed. Then both kids had theirs at school on Thursday since they were off on Friday. So I'm pretty valentines'd out! But I did manage to whip up some pink heart shaped pancakes, heart-shaped bacon (sort of) and pink strawberry smoothies all served on valentine's dishes! Not bad since I hadn't really planned any of it ahead of time!

Michael Buble?

Who would have thought I'd like a Michael Buble song so much? Not my usual style. But I find myself singing and dancing in the car quite a bit. The true mark of a good song for me!

Learning to teach

Well, I've started my class. It's been great. I was pretty nervous going back to school. It's been a long time since I've been a student. I really feel like I'm learning a lot. It's exciting.

It's also a little overwhelming. Every time I go I feel like I'm doing well, keeping up with everything. Then by the end of class when they've assigned us all our work, I'm like Ugghhh!! But, so far it's been pretty easy to keep up with. I'm supposed to start doing some observations at the elementary. I'm looking forward to that.

I've just been writing My Philosophy of Education. Aaarrrgghh! It's hard! But, I'm not going to complain. I've been waiting to do this for about 3 years now, so I'm ready to get this show on the road!

I only hope that I'm able to find a job somewhat close to home and that I have a good principal that is supportive.

At times this endeavor is quite daunting, but I'm still very excited and I'm glad I'm actually doing something to help achieve my goal- to be a teacher!

Wish me luck and excuse me if I am out of touch and my blog suffers (as I know it already has!).

Christmas

Whew!! It's been a long time, I know. For some reason I just get on these kicks where I don't want to do anything, including blog or even read them. So excuse me, it'll take me a little while to catch up on all your posts! I know this is unfathomable to some of you. I can't explain it. I just have an aversion to the computer sometimes. Then I start feeling guilty about not blogging and it makes it that much harder to start again.

On December 30th we had a family holiday party. That morning the kids and I made a double batch of Christmas cookies! It was really fun and delicious!

Here are a couple of pics from that night. I really need to get Stuart to take more pics because I hardly took any!!

Christmas eve and Christmas Day

On Christmas eve we went to Erica's house to exchange gifts and celebrate together. It was a lot of fun and the kid's loved opening presents together.

(Doesn't everyone dress like Hannah Montana on Christmas Eve?)

Among other things Ellie got her pink Nintendo DS and Logan got his night vision goggles (which work really well by the way!).



Then it was time to go home and get to bed so Santa could visit! The kids put out the milk and cookies for Santa! They're wearing their new PJ's that Nonnie made for them.

The next morning we woke up and opened presents.

Logan had been wanting a Sith robe (like from Star Wars), so he got one and was really excited.

We decided to get the kids their own roller skates and they loved them! (Haven't you ever seen a roller skating Sith?)

Then we got ready quickly and left for Houston. We've been doing this for about the last 6 years or so and let me tell you, it is NO FUN!! My idea was that I wanted the kids to be home on Christmas morning to open presents at their house, but we still wanted to see Stuart's family that gets together on Christmas Day, so this was our solution. It's exhausting though. Especially this year since we went to his Dad's family Christmas, then his Mom's side all on Christmas Day! Logan and Ellie's presents from Grandpa and Marilyn!

We did manage to have fun on Christmas despite the hectic schedule, but I think we may do things differently next year!
