We're baby sitting. Or should I say, chick-sitting. M.P. (aka Mr. Pigeon) was the Banty chick that Lisa hatched. He's been at her house the last few days. Erica asked Lisa if she'd like a break from being his "mommy" and she said sure. So she asked me if we'd like to take care of him for a few days. Of course I said yes. The kids are super excited of course.
Erica decided that it wasn't good for him to be alone, so she searched out a feed store in Georgetown that had some Banty chicks for sale and went to buy him a sister. That's Ms. Cupcake. Isn't she cute? She is the sweetest thing. She hardly ever peeps and everytime you pick her up she almost immediately falls asleep in your hands! Love her!M.P. on the other hand is not quite as sweet. He chirps a LOT and he pecks at poor Ms. Cupcake incessantly!
We've held them a bunch already. I want them to get used to being picked up, plus the kids want to do it all the time!! We've been checking on them a lot to make sure their temp is regulated nicely and that they have fresh water and food.
I've got to get a better pic of his little hiney. It's sooo cute. He has a little fluff of light yellow feathers back there. I think he should be called cotton tail!

Mr. P is plucky, Cupcake is more of a Marilyn Monroe type. They'll be great together.
Thank you for rescuing Eric this weekend from the incessantly chirping Mr. Pigeon! Next Thursday we will hopefully have 3 more! Hopefully they will be sweeter than Mr. P!
Awww, they are too cute! I love that you are "chicksitting".
I love the chicklets; they are super cute!
